Minecraft GPU issue

Hey guys, having a strange problem here. Generally when I play minecraft my GPU kicks up to between 90-99%. Idk what has happened but now It's only using between 17-22%. The only thing that's changed is my monitor. I now play at a much higher resolution which you think would make the GPU usage rise even more. I ran Unigine and it ramped up to 99% usage so it's a problem with minecraft's utilization of it. Any fixes? Update drivers?

Thanks, appreciate reading my post!

I'm not exactly sure but I know that for what it is, Minecraft is way to resource intensive. It's programmed in Java, which isn't the most refined language for a 3D game.

What is the actual issue? How long ago did this start happening? Are you noticing a decrease in game performance?

The issue is I am noticing a decrease in performance. But, this is coupled with the fact that it is now using less resources. It generally worked at 99% and I was getting 500+ FPS. Now It's working at around 20% and I'm getting 80-120 FPS. Which isn't really ideal believe it or not. I was wondering if there was possibly some GPU setting perhaps that decides 80+ fps is sufficient for smooth gameplay and doesn't make the GPU use more resources? Just to be clear I WANT it to be running harder if I can get higher FPS in game.

I have to also add that it is not a problem across the board. I ran unigine, cranked up the settings, and it ran at 99% load. So it's not a GPU problem but a specific problem with minecraft.

Thanks again! :D

80fps is great for Minecraft, but this could be an underlying issue that potentially could make its way into other games.
My money would be on it being a power saving thing.
You've got an NVIDIA graphics card, so I don't know what the interface is, but if you open it up and check what the settings are for power consumption, and then tell us that, we might be able to help.

I don't know about the desktop cards, but my laptop NCP has power under mobile options. Set minimizer to off if you have the option.
