Hi All, Found this on the CVG website. Some of you may have already read this but feel it is worth posting anyway. It says the following:

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has revealed that he would implement a subscription service into Call Of Duty 'tomorrow' if he could.

Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Kotick said he believed the move would bring an even bigger audience to the franchise.

"I would have Call of Duty be an online subscription service tomorrow", he said.

"When you think about what the audience's interests are and how you could really satisfy bigger audiences with more inspired, creative opportunities, I would love to see us have an online Call of Duty world.

"I think our players would just have so much of a more compelling experience.

"I think our audiences are clamoring for it. If you look at what they're playing on Xbox Live today, we've had 1.7 billion hours of multiplayer play on Live. I think we could do a lot more to really satisfy the interests of the customers.

"I think we could create so many things, and make the game even more fun to play. We haven't really had a chance to do that yet, so that would be my snap of the fingers".

However, when asked if he could make his dream a reality, Kotick was less certain, merely commenting "hopefully".

This man is clearly off his rocker. Ok Call Of Duty gaming is popular but it is not a World Of Warcraft

I saw this and wasn't surprised. The whole of the Activision company are greedy SOB's is why, they will do anything to get just 1 more dollar, which is good from a business perspective, but they are starting to take the piss and if they carry on, consumers will have had enough, and Ativision will end up losing more than they hoped to make.

If they go through with it though, I'm not sure it will be a flop, they have the same parent company as Blizzard after all, who know a thing or two about subscription online gaming. Still though, most xbox gamers are reluctant to pay the gold subscription, the market will be narrowed massively, even most of the morons that bought the DLC will not be stupid enough to pay for something like this

How does this subscription online gaming work,do you get dedicated servers and pay to use them.I know i'm thick so bear with me.

The subscription service would probably be similar to that of WoW...you pay a monthly fee to Activision.

You would log into a central server with a username / password, and through this you would be able to access servers.

It would be totally stupid of Activision to implement this. They would lose a lot of their fanbase.

I personally used to be a bit of an Activision fanboy and kinda disliked EA...I am now moving in the other direction...especially since Respawn Entertainment is signed to EA and I can't wait to see what they are going to produce!

I cant see it going subscription,But with Activision you never know....at the end of the day its all money and nothing else.

I personally would not buy the game if you needed a subscription, why should we pay for a subscription when you have already purchased the game...then on top of that you pay for your internet connection....just gets too costly just for one game imo.

Well thanks to you chaps i know what subscription for a game is all about.
I agree with Nevakonaza on what he said.

I would happily pay a subscription to play my equivelent of mw2, (bc2) if it meant constantly being bombarded with new content, weapons, maps, skins, gametypes, vehicles, awards etc. Other than that, i see no reason i would ever pay monthly for any game - particularly one without dedicated servers!

I assume you mean on a console, as PC gamers shouldn't have to pay any fee other than the game (except for MMOs, but that is only so the company can pay for servers, so is completely fair)

Why should console gamers be treated differently from computer gamers?

Good point, but the Console giants (especially M.S. and Sony) subsidize the cost of the console with the games :/
