Movies Making Comp Crash?

I've downloaded a tv series, and when played in windows media player, the audio always is several seconds behind, like my cpu cant keep up or something (i gotta amd 64 x2 3800 dual core so i know it can). Anywhoo, the same file, when opened up in winamp, has no audio problems whatsoever, but every once in a while my comp will crash. No warning or anything, it just shuts off. Its not the temp or anything, im running speed fan and everything seems to be alright. It only crashes when watching movies and whatnot, so whats the deal? Thx (if it matters i got an onboard gforcefx 6150, plus a gig of memory)
 
talking about downloading tv media is illegal and not permitted under the rules
