MW2 is far from dead..i played on it for about half hour the other night and its still very busy.
I cant wait for Black Ops....as for that having dedicated servers,I hope it does not actually...i preferred how the servers was in MW2,No stupid admins abusing their powers because you killed him too many times
I have only ever found 1 CoD4 server like that, got banned from it 3 times for "cheating"

. You go to most servers and it is nothing like that, just look for active, competative clans, they tend to have more sense than the other more laid back ones, but still play just for fun in public games, same goes for in WaW. It isn't like games like CS where every other server has some crap admin that rage kicks everyone.
Why they can't do what Steam tried to do initially with L4D and have a hybrid system, I don't know. They could just put the option in on multiplayer to go to a quick game, where it matchmakes like in MW2, or to go to the server list. Everyone would be happy. I think though you would initially see alot of people in the matchmaking, but as time goes on it will take a long time to find anyone in it because the casual gamers that use that rather than go to a server will have moved onto the next fad game, and the people that want the perks that come with dedi servers and clans will still be there.
Still think MW is crap. I agree with russb though, if there were dedi servers it would be a pretty good game, but when you go into every game and have someone crying about something, or cheating, or mic spamming, or talking crap, or you get massive lag because the supposedly "flawless" IWnet system is a POS, it gets very old, very fast, and none of it would happen if there were dedi servers where they could be disciplined
