MW3: Will it run ok?

Hey guys! I'm new here (this is my first post so sorry if its located in the wrong subforum:o ) and had a question regarding Call of Duty: MW3.

This past Christmas I was able to upgrade my computer a bit. My current specs are as follows:
Pentium D 945 3.4GHz Dual-Core CPU
HIS Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5
4GB RAM
Win7 Ultimate 32bit

It doesn't sound too impressive, but I can run COD4 and Modern Warfare 2 maxed out just fine (framerate never dips down past 45 FPS). I had the opportunity to play Modern Warfare 3 over at a friend's house on his Xbox 360 and loved it! :)

I was just wondering if Modern Warfare 3 would run, and if so, if I could play it smoothly (30-35+ FPS) on at least medium settings?

Thanks!

Itll run, My 4670 rapes MW2, I get 80-100FPS on all high at 1650/1050.

You should be okay :)

As most people's monitors refresh at 60Hz, anything over 60FPS is a complete waste.

The graphics have changed, but only incrementally. Also to the OP, if you have put that graphics card in recently, please make sure you have a descent PSU, otherwise (given the age of it) i am worried it will go bang!

Visually, correct, gameplay wise, not correct.

The MW3 engine is the IW engine, the same engine used in MW2 and CoD4, which is just a modded Q3 engine, and as such is designed to work at 125 FPS. Having FPS at 125 rather than 60 will allow you climb certain objects that you couldn't before and improve hit detection

This works at 250 and 333 fps too, where at the latter you can remove background noise and can also prevent yourself from making sound, which are both obviously advantageous and the reason why a lot of servers have PB set up to kick for 300+fps

^Yeah, i get what you are saying but at 60Hz I doubt most users will notice this. My point is in terms of GPU purchase, its a big waste of money to aim for 100 fps on a 60hz monitor.

Visually, I agree completely, but I would still say for the CoD series, or at least all games after and including CoD4, aim for 125. If you can't, you aren't going to be getting owned by everyone all the time so it isn't essential, as you said, but it will potentially (and has from my experience) make a difference.

If a user can afford to go for a system that will run at 125 FPS rather than 60, which even a relatively cheap computer should do, I would take it. I mean, even an 8800GT will get you 125 FPS on highest settings if you aren't HD gaming and you can pick them up here for ~£30, or ~$45-50. Even if you are in HD, a GTS 450/5750 will do it fine

Could you please tell me why the higher fps helps you climb objects please?
