My computer shuts off after 5 mins since in the US

My computer shuts off after a couple of mins and I don't know where it's coming from. Here is a little background:

The power supply is from France and my computer travelled overseas. Back in France, I never had a single problem. Since I first plugged it in the US, it worked and then shut off. I was able to play some video games for a couple of hours. But since then, I can't use it for more than 5 mins. I am wondering if it could be a power supply problem? DO I have to buy a new one?

I have an AMD Athlon 64, Asus K8N-E Deluxe motherboard, Windows XP SP2. The motherboard temp is 31 degrees celcius according to the BIOS and the CPU temp is 45 degrees celsius. Both the CPU and power supply fans are working fine.

Check the back of the PSU. If there's a little switch make sure its set to 120v, not 220v. If there's no switch look at the big sticker and see if it says anything about automatic voltage switch. It could be possible that the powersupply only handles 220v.

the americans use 110V and its at 50Hz

the rest of the world uses 220V at 60Hz

so there could be the problem.

Try do what the guys above me said
