Hey - I've got an HP ZD7000 17" widescreen, 3.0ghz HT processor, 128mg 5600 Geforce graphics, Windows XP (sp2), etc.

I'm trying to connect a Sony High8 Cam NP-F333 4years old.

It uses an S-Video cord which I have, and have plugged it into my laptop but I'm not able to figure out how to capture any film.

I'm trying to use the standard program that came with my laptop WinDVD creator but am having problems.

I'm not sure if for some reason my SVIDEO port even works. I'll need to check it out on another PC and will do that later.

Please help if you can.

Well is the svideo port on your laptop an output not a input cause most laptops are outputs. In which case wont work with your cam.

Read up about your computer and see what it has... Or go into display proporties and see if you have something about TV Out

As for USB not being good quality, that's not completely true. Some can be decent, the problem is it's much easier to drop frames on the USB bus than say firewire or PCI.
