Nero corrupted my CDrom?

I installed Nero worksuite 10, now my cd rom will not read blank CD-R or blank DVD+R cds(only 2 kind i tried). Get message "Disc is not formatted:Cannot read from this disc......" when i try to open E: drive(CD/DVD drive). I uninstalled nero, and even tried to restore system. Please help. Thx all help is appreciated.
When this happens i can't write to the cd. Can't open E: drive to see blank cd, just gives alert and closes out.

Check the properties of the drive and make sure that enable cd recording is checked.

i just realized i'm a moron and accidentally ordered a dvd rom instead of a dvd rw. didn't even know that is an option with only one drive on a laptop.
