New Video Card

Ok, but will it run on a 250 Watt PSU without problems?

Oh, and the FX5500 is a PCI not AGP. Or do they have an AGP version too?

So I wouldn't have any problems running a really good game like Hero or WoW with this setup? This is the family PC so I don't want to fry it, but if it's not a big deal I'll run it.

err no these are pretty cheap graphics cards, and those are fairly modern games, they will play... but dont exect to use the highest settings

Ok, I just meant cause' of my low PSU Wattage. Will it hurt it to use that vid card?

Ok, I like the looks of the ATI 9600PRO, but will it run with my 250 Watt PSU without ANY problems?

The 9600 Pro will run on your 250 Watt PSU.

And don't get the 9550 because it has a fan and the 9600 Pro doesn't. The 9600 Pro is capable of playing much better games than the 9550. It wouldn't make sense to choose it over the 9600 Pro unless you are on a strict budget...

Well said. Even high end cards such as the 7600GS don't all have fans, but that doesn't mean it's not as good of a card. Remember, you can always buy a fan later and add it.

You can get a 9800pro 128mb AGP for that much. Not sure if it can run on 250PSU

Why wouldn't you want a fan? I don't care about noise, plus if I really wanted to get better performance I can OC it to 9600 Pro levels. And if the 9550 has a fan, then it'll be even better for OC'ing cause it won't get too hot right? Oh, and no I don't have the cash to get a new PSU and vid card, I've thought of that.

Also, are you guys sure it DOES have a fan? Because some of the reviewers on Newegg said it didn't have one.

As I have already said, the fan does not mean it is better. Sometimes a heatsink alone can do a better job. Anyway, what makes you think the 9600 Pro doesn't have a fan? This one here has one: SAPPHIRE Radeon 9600PRO Radeon 9600 Pro Advantage 100562 Video Card - OEM at Newegg.com

Plus, once you OC the 9550 (if you can) you wont see an improvement. Infact, OC it too much, you'll either make it run too hot, or you will see artifacts.

No, I meant that are you sure that the 9550 does have a fan? I wasn't talking about the 9600.

I've been tinkin about it and I thinks the 9600PRO costs a little more than I want to dish out
