Noisy fans?

I had a pci slot fan and it was realy loud, but it sounded like someone kept hitting my case every second

So i took it apart and put some bones speed cream (skateboard bearing cleaner) around the center of the bearings and viola, nice and quiet, so if anyone wants to tend to their fans, i suggest this :)

Just a small tip i thought i share
 
what kind of fan was it? i'm all about the variable speed ones cuz like right now its pretty hot out so i crank them up but normally i run them at like 40% and they're silent
 
It was one of those pci exhaust fans, like a blower. It wasnt that it was loud, it sounded like something was clanging about in there, worked great
