OC Problems

I tried to overclock my computer and its not working right. I changed the multiplier from x6 to x8 and I was bumping the FSB 5Mhz at a time after booting like someone suggested but sometimes the systems beeps and restarts and the fsb goes bact to 266Mhz. Can anyone tell me if I'm doing sumthing worng?
 
I thought about updating the bios and there is an update for overclocking with the E6300 and E6400 but I dont know how do update them.
