What have you played/do you already own?

Without that info, for long RPG games:

Dragon Age: Origins (heavily recommend!!)
The Witcher
Mass Effect
Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas (haven't played it yet, so can't comment if it is good, but it looks so amazing)
Any of the older Final Fantasy games (FFX and before)

I'm sure I will think of a lot more, but for now I've got a mind blank :P Will post up more as I think of them :D

You don't have to pause during combat, only if you are on the harder settings. On the 2 play throughs so far I've not paused once, only if I couldn't acquire a target because they were behind an ally. If you go and play it on easy without pausing at all, it is pretty challenging, because you can't change tactics mid combat, and it is much more fun without all the pausing.

I've got it on disc, but my DA:O folder is just a touch over 15GB :P and that is unmodded, with no expansions or DLC installed.

The witcher, btw, I do have on steam, and that is ~10GB to download I think, might be just over that

Thats the only problem with these games its so much easier to buy them from steam but its the downloading i hate... anyway any more that you think of let me know :)

It isn't so bad if you've got quick, unlimited internet. Even The Witcher only takes me about an hour to download, same goes for Mass Effect which is 9GB I think. It is still longer than using a disc though, that is until you factor in buying online and waiting for delivery :P

I would recommend the same games Aastii listed except for the Final Fantasy games. And that's just because I haven't played them.

I really enjoyed Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Shivering Isles expansion. I haven't really gotten into Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, but most people say that it's even better than its successor.

EDIT: If you like sci-fi, then you might want to look into EVE Online. Yes, it has a monthly subscription cost, but you can buy more time with the game's currency (30-day "PLEX" or Pilot License Extension card). So if you manage to get the money, which supposedly isn't very difficult, then you should be able to play as much as you want. And you can start with the 14-day free trial and buy a PLEX to upgrade to a proper account.

EVE Online Wiki said:
If you are currently using a Trial account, your account is converted to a paying account and the 30 days are added onto the remaining days left in your trial period.

Well i download about 1.3 MB/s on steam so it shouldnt take to long its just horrible seeing that 0% downloaded at the start XD and with fallout new vegas im kind of hoping they will do one of there special offers they have every weekend thats when i will go and buy it.

Don't bother with Fallout 3 Vegas. I bought it and I think it sucks vs F3. Laggy and glitchy with a whole nest of bugs atm. Also more and more are getting corrupted saves and the mob AI is buggy.

Till they patch it stay away from it. I just bought it because I like to splurge on something from time to time :P

Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are worth a few play through runs in my opinion. ME first, of course. The actions done in that game affect things in the second game.

Though there is no date for ME3 yet, the previous two games will affect that one as well as you import your character from game to game.

ME2 is different from ME two in terms of exploration and the fighting. They're both worth it though.

-1  :P

yes it is laggy until they patch it, but it is hella fun, and you can't really tell the difference between full settings and dropping a couple of the settings down to counteract the lag. I've not had any problems with any of that stuff, other than the lag, and the occasional time that companions get confused about the path to take to follow me, so get left behind, but that was an issue with FO3 too

I'm on more or less the same rpg search. I honestly can't say what I want out of the game. Though I enjoyed the earlier FF games as astii said, I prefer real time combat.
My favorite rpg so far is demon souls. Bloody hard game, but freakin fun. Granted, there isn't all that much story involved I still love it.
Theoretically I should have loved oblivion and Fallout, but I didn't really give them much of a chance. I got really into Risen. I feel I should really go back to them and try again, as well as with mass effect, the witcher and dragon age, as I didn't like those at all.

Save up for Call OF Duty Black ops, its coming out beginning of November. im currently playing battlefield bad company 2, the 15 dollar Vietnam Patch is coming out soon, its looking good but u need Battlefield bad company 2 to play it
