Opteron 185

So I have an amd 4800+ skt 939 oc'ed to 2.71. If I sell this chip is it worth the time and energy to get an opteron 185 and oc it to 2.9-3.0 which seems very reasonable for this chip. It would cost me about $150 after I sell my 4800+. What do you think? My processor is my current bottleneck in my system BTW.

I don't think it's worth paying 150$ but that's only my personal opinion.

I agree, but without having to go with AM2 or C2D there aren't many options. I dont feel like getting a new mobo, 240 ram and processor for $600+..........

Despite the overclocking potential of the Opteron chip, $150 isn't worth it coming from your current setup. That X2 isn't a bad chip.. And that overclock makes it even better. I think you're better off saving your money for now and waiting for a quad core setup.
