P4 Upgrade Problems

Had a Intel Celeron 2.4 i865G on a Epox 4PGMI MB.

Did my Bios updates. And installed the chip (P4 HT/800 MHz FSB 1MB L2).

Machine will not start. No Bios Screen. Power light and HD light stay solid.
No beep, nothing.

Take the chip out. Replace with origional chip. Everything works again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. The mobo should support the newer chip but dont quote me on that
2. What power supply do you have? What's it's rating?

Thanks for the reply,

Its an Antec SL350
AC input 115/8A, 230V/4A; 60Hz/50Hz

Also.

BIOS updates:

Epox had 3 updates:
04/09/2004
Solved 16x4 memory can not boot (Error post code is "E6"). Modified system memory type string with Epox Standard rule.

02/02/2004
Added support for Intel Pentium4 Perscott Processor on REV 1.3 boards.

11/18/2003
Remove "USB-ZIP" item in booting device priority menu. ("USB-ZIP" item has been combined with "USB-HDD" in the menu.)Show Pentium4 Processor - Extreme Edition, and its L3 cache size and string. Shorten the time of power-on. Patch the failure of reset caused from ALC655 Codec AcLink.

When you goto update your BIOS for the first time, in my case do you:

A. Install all of them (3 reboots) any order.
B. Install all of them (3 reboots) in order by oldest first.
C. Install only the newest update.

Because i was a moron and ended up installing 2/2004 then 11/2003 then 4/2004.

I am so wanting to eperience this chip.

I appreciate your time

You can install using Option B however ideally you should just need to install via Option C.
