Pc Technician needs...

Ok im thinking of senidng a flyer out to the houses around my estate advertising my 'expertise' in computers.

Basically offering anything from PC upgrades, maintenance, virus removal, software help, speeding up PC etc...

What sort of things would i need if i was to do this, so far i have thought about getting an old laptop dirve to fit in my 2.5 external hdd caddy (got free with my case :))

Put onto it CCleaner, registry mechanic, core temp, everest, orthos, cpu-z things like that.

A windows disk, and maybe vista

A linux live CD or two

Lots of screws, cable ties, stand offs cables etc...

Static bands, compressed air, screwdrivers etc...

What else would be a good thing to carry?

What areas should i advertise most on the flyer as i dont want to cram loads into a small peice of paper? (EG, focus on upgrades or virus, system clean etc..)

Thanks for any help

Also whats a good pricing scheme? Say hourly, or different prices for different tasks?

you may want to look at becoming a sub chapter S or an LLC so you can not be personally held liable while on people's property. I know it sounds messed up, but all it takes is one idiot to sue you and then you are screwed with no liability insurance.

Everything. An extra CPU, SD RAM, DDR, DDR2, DDR3, EDO (jk :P). SATA/PATA(eide)

Everything in an computer basically.

I don't think having some EDO with him is a joke, think how many older people still have their p2 166 systems up and running, and don't feel that they need anything more.

FYI - P2's use PC66/PC100 memory. EDO is used by 386, 8088, 8066, 486SX, 486DX, and Pentium Pro, Pentium I. That's it.

Pentium 2's go from 266+ MHz (by the way). So logically, P2 166 isn't even possible. Any 166MHz + CPU motherboard will have an PC66/Pc100/PC133 slot. Like mine.

Yep your right, I meant the p 166 not the p2. It's been so long since I had one I didn't remember. And if you had thought it out, you would have realized what I meant instead of ranting about it.

So chill, Sheesh!
But I am betting that there are still people using one of those. And while it might not be very common, having a stick of EDO around could really save the day. And you could probably get it for nothing at some goodwill store or somewhere like that.

Yeah, that's true. But anything above an P166 uses SD-RAM too.

So chill, Sheesh!

Chill out about what? I haven't yelled at you, cursed, or anything like that. I just wanted you to know and I posted it... is that wrong now?
