Pick my new motherboard

I'm tired of my system being built around Acer OEM crap, so I'm selling it all and I'm going to build a new one from scratch. I don't know anything about motherboards.

I'm going to want to run a Core 2 Quad or Duo on it.. if it's Duo I'll want it to be upgradeable to Quad. SLi or Crossfire are unnecessary, but I won't reject a mobo simply because it supports them. I'm looking for a standard ATX size. It'd be nice if there was a lot of space around the CPU, because I plan on sticking a big ol' Scythe Ninja thing on it. It's going into either an Antec 900 or an Antec P182 case. I'll be using only one sATA HDD, a lower-end video card, and maybe a high-end sound card. I would prefer if it did not have on-board video, parallel ports and all that, basically all I need are USB, but again, that won't be a cause for me to not consider one.

I was looking at this:

Suggestions? Thanks

I'm reading a lot about Gigabyte north bridges heating up more than they should, both in the board I linked to and the one you just posted even with its large heatsink. I wonder if I should look into something with those fancy heatpipes?

Abit stinks. No offense, but it just does. Every ABIT has errors... at least one...

If you have a good case with adequate cooling, I wouldn't worry about it.

I had narrowed my choices down to the Asus P5K Premium Black Pearl P35 or the Asus Maximus Formula X38. As of today I ordered the Maximus Formula and a 8800GTS ( G92 card). Both boards have gotten good reviews , I chose the Maximus due to the X38 chipset, and it 's oc'ing ability.
