Now not to be a sony fanboy by all acounts but im quite impressed with its features. Internet acess multimedia functionality plus games like Tekken 6 MGS4 Gran Turismo Vision whos going to say no.

Excelent system there but the cost is a bit pricey but still ill wait till the pre order panic is over and then it will reduce hopefully and wham i strike and get my purchased and home with me. Blue Ray player here i come.

Kind of amazes me as to what they put in these consoles now a days. Getting like a pc arent they?

For those worried about Playstation 3 Backwards Compatibility you can rest at ease you see

The Playstation 3 is comming with an internet browser which means that new applications, utilites etc can be made and availible for download on your PS3 by Playstation 3 Browser compatible websites that can be made by some clever people out there.

This is what Sony said about Playstation Emulation on the Pc they said it could not be done. It happend since someone wrote the program to do it years back and the pc did not have any access to certain chips that the Playstation One had.

Give it time folks someone will work out how to program an emulator and compensate for the loss of PS2 hardware thus get the PS3's hardware to load PS2 games on it. In fact id dare say someone will be doing reverse enginering when the PS3 hits and will soon teach the PS3 how to boot PS2 games using its next gen hardware. I know Sony are already doing this but for your old games that wont play the option of downloading and installing a fully working independant secondary emulator would solve that little problem.

There are people out there quite capable of doing this , look at the guy who made bleem for example

Its like playing mega drive games on the PS2 they needed hardware only found on the mega drive yet they have got the PS2 to play them. Once the PS3s internet browser gets working and new updates are made this will quickly become a reality and will ensure endless possibilities. I hope this puts others at ease.

Do you even have a PS3? If you did, this post would not have been made. Most people who OWN a PS3 (not played it at Wal Mart for 5 mins) actually don't like it and think it's a giant waste of money. I have 2 games for mine. One is good and one is so-so. I didn't want the other game so much as I just wanted something else to play on my PS3. What a disappointment. I'm so glad I have a Wii and 360 also. That way my PS3 can serve as the ultimate door stop for me.
 
Oh and the internet browser works just fine, as it does on my Wii which cost a third less and I play more than my PS3. How much time shall give the PS3? A couple of years maybe? Like when PS4 is about to come out. I'll tell you what, once you shell out the dough for a PS3, you can come back on here and tell us what's so "innovative" and great about it.

So far the only semi-valid reason for not liking it so much is that the games you got for it are a bit sucky... How the hell does that equal a rubbish console. Are you assuming everyone should have the same viewpoint as you just because you're having a hard time getting along with it...

How does having rubbish games on a gaming console equal a rubbish console? Am I missing something here? So because it has the ability to go on the internet and play blu-ray movies suddenly excuses it for having lack luster titles? Try again. I'd rather spend $300 less and not have an internet browser or blu-ray player. Why if I wanted one of those things, maybe I would buy a blu-ray player AND a computer. What a concept.

What games are on the PS3 that are innovative? Resistance? Please. I bought Resistance only because my PS3 would have sat in the box for 3 months until MLB 07: The Show came out. If you think I'm the only one who thinks that the PS3 is garbage then you're naive. Look at all the reviews of the PS3 games that are out right now (http://ps3.ign.com/index/reviews.html) and compare those to that of the 360 (http://xbox360.ign.com/index/reviews.html)

I'll give you an example of games that are on both the 360 and PS3 and which game received the higher review:

COD3- 360
Madden 07- 360
MLB 2k7- 360
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance- 360
NHL 2k7- 360
Tiger Woods 07- 360
Sonic the Hedgehog- 360
NBA 2k7- PS3

ONE. One of the 7 titles that are on both platforms received a higher rating on the PS3 than it did on the 360.

Only one title received a 9/10 or higher on the PS3, while 360 has 13 titles with 9/10 or higher.

So do you still think that I only have a few "rubbish" titles? Or is it that the the PS3 has alot of rubbish titles which are not worth buying or even renting for that matter?
 
Yeah, but the xbox 360 has also been out for a year longer than the PS3. I seem to recall the PS2 having the same problem when it came out, but look at it now. It's the #1 selling console of all time in Japan(no idea on NA stats). Give the PS3 some time, it'll pick up once some hits appear for it.
 
It all depends on your tastes, I personally believe that ALL consoles are a waste of money, and that the Computer is best gaming platform, but then I have a sli 7900GT system so games play smoothly for me on the computer, you might beg to differ if you have a more how should i say it "budget" oriented solution. One of the main reasons why people get a console is because they said games are laggy on their computer.
 
Well after seeing the interface and the games comming out for it ill get one. Besides new gta,tekken,gran turismo metal gear GTA, Getaway who wouldnt want one

Very true. But why is that? Because PS2 had other games like GTA that performed very well. Now that most of those games are going to come out for the 360 as well, Sony has to scramble to find a couple of other killer apps to move consoles. 360's Gears of War is a great example. What does Sony have? FF 13? It won't work. Plus the way I look at it, it will be make or break time for Sony come this fall. If MGS and FF 13 don't live up to expectations or the hype when they arrive, PS3 is a sinking ship. And so far, Sony has almost screwed up every game it gets it's hands on. The recently released MLB 2k7 actually performs better on the 360 than the PS3. The PS3 version is said to shutter and the colors are not as bright. Man am I glad I put down the PS3 version and grabbed the 360 version at the store.

The new tekken is ok, not great. It should be better on the PS3, but it's not. GTA will be on the 360 as well as The Getaway if I'm correct. With Gran Turismo you have to purchase new tracks and cars, not unlock them. Rumor has it that to gain access to all tracks and cars and other in game goodies, one would have to pay up to $1000 including the game itself. MGS better be good but so far I'm only hoping they don't screw up the series, much less that it will be a hit.
 
The one thing I hate seeing about the PS3 is all the speculation. Speculating does nothing. The PS3 was supposed to be great and sell out, but you can find one anywhere now unlike the Wii or when the 360 came out. The games were supposed to blow away the competition, instead they are underwhelming. I would love for PS3 to stop being speculated about and put up or shut up. I'll definitely wait for it to be better, but right now I'm getting impatient.
