Portable Hard drive question

i was wondering if i could bring my portable hard drive with games on it and play them at a friends house. will this work?

Maybe
Some games only work on the computer you installed them with because there is no EXE to start them IE steam is annoying but I think it is a possibility. Games that have an EXE in the directory work fine for example WoW runs fine, just the settings are annoyinig because they are saved there.

For the most part, no... Otherwise it would be too easy to just copy games and pass them around. And besides copy protection and what not, there are other things required... Registry entries, misc. files that aren't located in the game directory, Steam or other such apps(as CPT mentioned), etc etc...

Maybe AA is different because I don't know what Registry Entries The Other One is talking about.. When I reformatted I put the America's Army folder straight from my C:\ to my E:\ and proceeded.. When I was done I just put right back and it worked fine.

Well AA doesn't really have any copy protection, right? I mean it's freely distributed over the internet if I'm not mistaken :P

Yeah I don't think that most games that require a Key upon instilation work like that. although there are ways that they work, it is a rarity.
