is there like a trip on a motherboard, if you have to much power going though it ??

Sounds like you should contact the person who custom made it, if you can't find the problem. Maybe they have had people complain about issues with other computers they built and can pinpoint the problem. Also, make sure the board is grounded correctly.
Good luck with that.

When a battery goes you won't even see many boards run through the posts. Everything looks doa! A few builds back the system was lifeless until simply trying a new battery one day when going to start it up.

Some information on hardwares like the make and model board, how many drives and other devices, and age of the system there would be a further help here.

It was my understanding that motherboards with bad batteries simply forget a lot of settings, not fail to post.

Most boards will boot with a dead battery, you will have to reset the bios and reset any settings that you changed from default everytime you shutdown though. Theres very few boards that will not boot with a dead battery unlike what was said above. But I am sure we will get a paragraph on the (1) that doesnt.

I dont understand why your not taking it back instead of trouble shooting it, if you fool with something they might try to claim you did it and you will be out of luck. If I build a computer for someone and they start working on it the warranty is out the window!

When you simply press the power button and nothing is seen no fans start running, no lights only to find that a battery went dead you won't have to take long in figuring out that a dead battery simply stalled everything there.

Like I said theres (very) few that wont, but most will. He said he just bought a Custom built computer. I say it worked when it was gave to him so if the battery died between picking it up and getting home plus the fact that most will boot with a dead battery that makes the point mute! Like I said if he just bought it custom made he better take it back and not fool with it or the guy might void his warranty. But I guess you dont care about that and make another noob post.

Who said it was bought from any dealer and under any warranty. The only information stated so far was the attempt at using another supply and still not getting anywhere.

And to answer the question asked earlier there is no special switch other then the one seen for main power on the front of the case except for the breaker switch found on the rear of most supplies next to where the ac cord plugs in. With the substitute supply not seeing results either you could be looking at a board with one or more bad caps needing replacement regardless of buying used from a vendor/repair shop or private sale.
