Problem please help asap

Hey, I had a 2mb connection on aol and then they decided to upgrade it free of charge to 8mb. However since then I have had a few problems.

1/ My connection randomly disconnects (the green arrows go yellow on the desktop)

2/ My connection speed randomly increases and decreases drastically eg 5mb to 7mb then to 6mb then to 7mb and back to 5mb

3/ My web cam has stopped working (insufficient bandwidth resources on the usb it says)

4/ My game Guild Wars no longer works. Error 058 (a routing problem according to guildwars.net

So I rang aol and they said.....

1/ Try a different filter (did not work)

2/ Connect your phone line to the master phone socket using a line less than 10 metres. (Well I cant connect it to the line using a cable less than 10 metres)

- therefore the only solution I can find is to buy a wireless modem and put it on the master socket. But how will this affect things?

Hmm got a USB modem i take it, If you can i would look for an Ethernet modem. Sould do the trick

I have a BT modem and used the USB on a 2MB connection and it was fine. But when the line was upgraded too 8MB i was havin issues with the modem. So i contacted BT and they advised me too swap over too Ethernet and its been working fine ever since.

Hope this helps, but i would wait for a second opinion.

im not sure if theres anything you can do, everyone i know that has aol including me, has tried countless things to stop the disconnects and get a better connection.... with aol.... cant be done

What about buying a wireless modem?
