PS3 and HDMI problem

I am having problems connecting my PS3 to HDMI. It just won't connect.
I already pressed the power button until it beeps to reset it but still not working.

Any ideas?

There is a setting to change the TV to a HDTV, rather than SDTV, but the catch is you need it hooked up to an SDTV to change it...
