PSP updating issues

I have an old PSP 1002 (fat version) with 2.50 firmware on it and have been trying to update it to the 6.31 version via PC.

I've created the necessary folders and saved the download into the UPDATE folder as directed but I keep getting a corrupted file message when I check the memory card and it wont update. Do I need to update sequentially through all the updates first then download the latest one?

I just wanted to check out the digital comic stuff which recommends the latest update.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

It turned out to be 5th time lucky, not sure why the file was corupted but I noticed when I downloaded the update the file name was changed because I hadn't deleted the previous download so the number of times it had been downloaded was included in the file name, which was an obvious mistake because it won't work if it's changed, bleh.

Anyway, the digital comic reader is pretty amazing and will come in handy in between classes. I've never tried going wifi with it so might test it out on the schools wireless today.

Thanks

The saying easy come easy go is apparent at the moment, after getting the psp working well with shiny new firmware and apps the memory card is now corrupted, I think i'll let it die a natural death and replace it with something from the Nintendo range, oh and connecting via the school wifi was fail too.
