Putting a PC in a cabinet

My parents have a desk that has, on the right side, a cabinet that is perfect for sliding a PC into. I'm not sure if it's meant for that, but it works great.

Anyway, does doing this (basically enclosing it, except for the exposed back panel of the desk where the wires come through) have any effect on the cooling system, especially the fans?

It wouldn't be very easy for it to suck in cool / fresh air, but I don't know. The best thing you can do is to messure the temperatures of it in and out of the cabinet.
