Really strange ISP problem...Need help!

Happy new year guys!:D

Okay...this is a bit of a long one but I'll try to keep it as short as possible: I live in the UK and over the summer I ran-up a large phone bill and as a result my phone was cut-off and I am no longer able to make or recieve calls. However, the phoneline hasn't been completely cut off: I'm sure that this is a mistake on the part of my telephone company - British Telecom - because not only is there ring tone when I put the phone to my ear but there's still a broadband signal, indicated by 2 solid green lights on my modem.

It suddenly occured to me after several weeks of no internet access that it might be worth applying with an ISP to reconnect my broadband service. So I contacted an ISP and gave them my phone number etc and they gave me a domain-username and password. I then went home, entered the username and password and to my disbelief, my PC connected to the internet!:)

...But several days later my ISP invalidated my username and password on their domain and as a result I couldn't connect to the internet. However, the DSL signal continues to travel to my PC. It must do because the 2 green lights on my modem are solid, not flashing on and off which one of them would do if there was no DSL.

Anyway, soon after I tried the same thing but with a different ISP and again they gave me a username and password to access their domain and yet again I was able to connect to the net. But exactly the same as before, the username and password were invalidated after several days and I was thereafter unable to connect.

This time I called the ISP and asked them what the problem was and they told me that they had contacted my phone company, as per standard procedure, and had been informed that it was not possible to provide me with a broadband service because the phone had been cut off! I told the receptionist that this was not the case as I had been successfully using the service for several days! She simply told me that was very strange but she was unable to continue providing the service.

Anyway, yet again I have contacted an ISP and obtained a username and password which allows me to connect but I will no doubt be disconnected again in several days from now.

I'm wondering if there's anyway I can remain connected to the internet without being cut off? It appears as though I'm lucky that my phone company overlooked disconnecting my DSL connection. However, until I pay the phonebill, which wont be for several weeks yet, I would like to have uninhibited internet access. Is there any way that I can obtain access to a domain that will allow me to connect without getting cut-off? Does anyone know about this stuff and how it works?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes I know how it works...you have to pay your phone bill! ISP providers are using their line to give you dsl and as a result need their permission!

Where I live it doesn't work like that. The phone company owns the line and the ISP (which is one of several companies that are seperate from the the phone company) provides the access to the domain. The ISP pays the phone company to rent the line and then charges me to connect. At least that's how I think it works.

Go with cable broadband. Then you dont need the phone line

I already thought of that but I live amongst several sheep and other farmyard animals. No cable here! :(

What I think I need is a domain that I can access. Any ideas how to do this?
