reformatting my Computer, pls help

hi everyone, i have caught many viruses and need ti reformat my computer, but i need to save files to a back up disk, i was wondering, do i need to save all the important files like msn messenger, microsoft word, Window Media etc, and can someone tell me how to format a CD pls, can u tell me all this in an email, my email is [email protected], pls help, as i need to format my computer as soon as possible, and need to know all details as soon as possible, thanks

You can't save your program files. If you installed MSN, Word,... and you're going to format your box, you will loose those programs. You can't just copy the directories containing the program files to a CD...
What you can copy to a cd are data files like music, word documents,...

In short: you can't "save" program files, but you can save their data files.

You can't format CD-R's But you can keep using CD-RW's because there Rewritable
