replacing xbox 360 optical drive or lens

i may be buying my friends xbox 360 if this will be easy enough. It doesn't read discs, i imagine this is because of a non working optical drive, or does it just require a new laser(if so, how easy are they to fit). if not, then what is the process and requirements to fit a new optical drive. how much is a new optical drive?

Check Ebay/Craigslist for the latest prices.

As for how to fit it, take the case off and from there it is just a few screws/a cable, it can be daunting at first, but the process is actually very simple. Go and search youtube for some tuts if you can't figure it out or don't want to just rush into it, there are plenty out there that can help
