here is my problem !!
my dad's comp' monitor crushed last week and i got it to be service!!
i borrowed one old monitor from one of my friend for temporary use today!!
and i got this! (the screen keep on 'shaking' and the mouse can hardly move on the screen!) it is simply fine when i tried it on another monitor!! one of my tech man said it's because that old monitor cant support the resolution!! but i think that does make sense!!
what my dad uses is just a onboard graphic!!
and that crap comp is running window xp!
so what happened??

1. Lets pick a more useful title than urgent
2. The problem is that the monitor doesnt support the resolution and/or refresh rate. Drop them

both the video card and monitor have to support the resolution that you have set so if either one does you will have a problem so just lower them like Praetor said. it is not a problem with windows xp.

There are a couple of reasons

1) Your resolution is set higher than the monitor can support. The fact that it's a crappy generic onboard video chip is irrelevant. I have some old monitors that will ONLY go as high as 640x480

2) The monitor is broken.

but that graphic is a onboard crap!! pretty lousy!!
SO???!

Why WHAT?

anything consider with window xp?
Drop either the resolution or the refresh rate or both.

i did that!! (lower the resolution) and it wont be problem consider with video card!!
Keep lowering.

it doesnt work
If it doesnt work at 640x480@60 then either the monitor doesnt work period and you cant see anything or youve not done it yet.

Try booting in safe mode and change it from there. If it doesn't work in safe mode you either have a super dinosaur monitor or it's broken.

Go in to the video settings in safe mode and "change" them, and hit apply. It'll still be 16 colors, but, when you boot into normal mode it will retain it's 16 color settins and you can adjust it up from there. I would suggest no more than 640x480. Color depth usually isn't a problem.
