i was jusrt wondering if it is possible to run a computer game off a blank disk. if so how do u do it? just burn the installed files onto a cd? or what.

It is possible, Yeah.

It'd be slower though, obviously, since it's comming off your optical drive and not your HDD.

Depends on the game. If its a newer game that requires the install cd to be in the drive, how do you plan to run the game from the burned cd while the install cd is in the drive?

Although new games also read and write a lot to the install directory. If you burned it to a disk it wouldnt be able to write, and it would be slow to load.

Perhaps what you should do is to take and install the game to a usb flash drive. Which would work, kinda like how portable firefox works...

no its not a newer game it the first unreal tournament lol. and it doesnt need the cd to run so no prob there.

You can tell you right from the start that most newer games require files on the same drive as the OS is run from while installing to a read/write secondary partition or drive works you can't install a game to removable media. Simple copying files to it won't work.

Some games like HL2 and CCS although having files installed to the hard drive require logging into an online account. For running an old game a virtual drive not optical is mounted. This allows the game to run in a virtual environment to avoid compatiility issues. How do you run an old 8bit MSDos 5.0 game on Vista? http://img338.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dukestartoffsu1.jpg
