S-ATA Hard drive

I cant see the hard drive, the link is dead, update it. But to answer your question, no, you cannot plug a normal 4 pin molex connector into a SATA drive you must use a SATA power connector which is than and flat. Only found on newer power supplies so make sure you have one before you buy the HDD.

hmmm, by that pictre it would seem that you would be able to plug a 4 pin molex into it, never seen it beofre but if its got the plug then why not use it.

Yeah, all my Hitachis have SATA and molex power connects. You can use either one, but not both.

My friend just bought one. Either will work. Manufactorers figure most power supplies still use the usual molex connector.

not sure but is better to use the sata power cables i find it easie to plug and pull some molex connectors are a pain to pull out, especiall if it is crooked, you have to wiggle wiggle.

(You'd think that maybe someone would answer the question posed instead of ignoring it and wandering off to side-chatter, but...) To answer your question, yes, that board does have onboard SATA.

Are you guys saying that you can either use the SATA Signal cable or the molex connector? Or is it both.
Derek

It depends entirely on the drive in question. My SATA drive doesn't have a Molex connector, only the SATA power connector. If a drive does, however have a molex connector as well as a SATA power connector, you only use one (unless you really have a grudge against the drive ;) ).

You'll have to use the SATA signal cable regardless of which power connector you use.

now can i plug a regular 4-pin power connector into that harddrive or does it have to be the other thin power connector beside the S-ATA connection cable to the motherboard?
If you've got connectors for both than u can use either (ideally the fancy SATA one). Worst case you can buy a convertor to convert between the power cables for like $5

Either

this freaking motherboard requires a bios flash and update, ive never done one b4 and i dont wanna risk it on this motherboard so i think im just gonna return it and buy ata 133
