I'm installing a SATA samsung 120 gb SP1213C, its oem and came with nothing. I'm able to load win xp pro on it but I'm getting tired of doing it. Constantly get drop errors as soon as I try and load any program and machine won't boot. I'm thinking the jumpers aren't right but there aren't any jumpers. The pins are there but came with nothing. From reading here it seems SATA drives don't need jumpers?

What else do I need to do in the BIOs to configure the drive? It seems to me that on startup the MB sees it as an IDE drive, is this correct?

MB is an ABIT IS-7 with SATA controllers. Drive is on SATA -1

I would have thought so; not in the traditional sense of master/slave-type jumpers at least

It is :)

SATA drives don't have/need jumpers due to the fact that within the SATA specifications there is only one drive per channel :)
