How to date manufacture? Are you asking how to tell when cards were made? Well, besides the copyrights all over the card, you could search around for when the chipset was released.

yes when made, i have a yamaha a724 sv550 . i can see no copywrights or chip dates also a fortmedia fm801 modelsp-804 with no obvious marks . i was wondering if there is a prog to read info from the cards thanks

Um... Yamaha only made soundcards a while back(that I remember seeing) And the Fortmedia 801 is apparently a sound card.
