Following the original XBox (edited out) XBox360's aren't really doing all that well. No HD-DVD, overheating, 2 seperate models, one without a hard drive...It's almost sad.....Almost.

Following the original XBox (which, by the way, had the prestige of being the first console EVER to crash at it's trade show debut)

the PS2 crashes also.. and the PS2 was released before the xbox was. so it cant be the first one.

overheating
Which is why you should never buy a console on its release. All consoles have teething problems, and no doubt everyones beloved PS3 will too.

And thats sad how? The one without the hd is also quite a bit cheaper. If you can afford the higher tier console yet, then they gave you the option of a cheaper one. In the same way that if you cant afford the omega bundle($2000) they give you the option of the one premium, or gold or silver, or core bundles

exactly i like it that way. its more variety and was very smart on their part. it offers consoles to all financial levels.

in all hoensty i cant see the system fully locking up to just heat issues; the original xbox came with overheat protection funtionality, i cant see them leaving that out of a significantly more powerful system.
i read on Guru3D that there are various error messages being issued by the xbox 360 in relation to these crashes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Sucks for those people! Do thos CPU's have heatsinks like a PC?

the xbox 360 didn't impress me much, its pretty much just better graphics. thats it, all the same gameplay so far. coupled with them failing like this (it even made the local news) gives them an even worse rep to me. especiall because I am loyal to playstation :)

I hope they work it out though, I feel bad for all of the people who saved for months just to have it die on them

my friend is having this probkem...we were playigng in his attic, so it was much hotter then anywhere else, but stilll it would crash in 20minites.... he's already thinking about selling it... I myself have not got one yet, and I plan to in about 5 years when the next set of consoles come out and these new ones drop down to 100$ like i always do, in about a monnth i'll be getting my normal xbox. It has saved me so much money, and its still getter graphics new games and all that compared to the last time so it's all still good for me :)

why would he sell it if he's having problems with it and only just bought it? surly it makes more sense to either take back for a replacement or get his money back.

he's not that smart.

lol, i do find that quite funny but its not really fair to be saying things about people behind their backs.
i think its more of a case of trying to rip someone else off, these are going for stupid prices on ebay and he's just gonna try and get some action for himself. however, he's gotta state that there's a problem with it if he does sell cos he'll get done for false advertising. who wants to pays vast amounts of money for something that doesn't work?

And yet, in the face of all this critcism, crowds are still literally rioting for these things for Christmas. ;) Heck, its barely thanksgiving!

Yes, I am not making this up. Shoppers in a Maryland target waited for hours to get in the store and get the first ones. When the store clerk announced that the consoles would be sold on a first-come first-serve basis instead of by the number system they had devised among themselves, the customer surged inside. Police were called and everyone was sent home. Without a console. Crazy, man crazy.

just found this
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4466688.stm
Microsoft spokeswoman Molly O'Donnell would not detail how many reports the company had received but did say the calls involved a "very, very small fraction" of all the consoles sold. The volume of calls was in line with Microsoft predictions, she said.
lol BULLS*** if there were so many people complaining then it cant be a small fraction. there are probably even more people who just havent reported anything yet. Also i believe she said this so that people wont get deterd(sp?) from buying the console.

Have you not done fractions in school yet then? If a thousand people have problems yet there are 3 million sold, then thats 1 in 3000 which is quite a small fraction

HAHA
I'm glad I wasnt one of those people who camped out in front of stores for a couple of days just to find the xbox 360 had some rather large flaws.

That shows all those people who thought the xbox 360 would kill PCs

HAHA
