It's a new game coming out in 2008 new great invention. Start off as single cell organism with a tooth and an ass of your design breed defend and evolve starting in the sea and each time you breed you get to design your offspring and as you progress you get more design options. Keeps going up to more advanced levels with more advanced creature building options where you end up designing trees and land creatures eventually designing intelegent creatures and their homes and machines and attacking the other civilisations and eventually take off into space and meet some of the other five thousand worlds going through the same process from a single cell organism.

I guess thats why Sim City Society is so bad the origional maker Will Wright is too busy developing Spore.

Small nitpick, there are actually going to be millions, yes millions, of planets in this vast game. In fact, the in-game universe is so large, they actually introduce wormholes sometime in the space-faring age, allowing one to jump dozens, or hundreds, of galaxies away.

I've wanted this game for a long time, It just keeps blowing my mind. I love how each creature you make is uploaded to the spore servers, then randomly downloaded to everyone else. How cool is that? I love this game. :D
 
Pretty old news, but definitely useful for those who haven't heard of this game yet. I've been waiting for this game pretty much since it was announced to be in development.
 
The official release window (as of now) is spring of '08. It could be pushed back into 2009.. I can wait, as long as it isn't nuked.
 
It won't be nuked, but as far as I've heard it's on a semi-indefinite hold while Wil Wright attends to other matters... So officially, I believe it's mid next year, but in reality nobody knows...
