My computer seems to have a problem with a program called spy crush. I keep getting system alerts saying that I need to buy spyware. Is this some kind of virus?

It is not a sinister one, like remote control programs, but it is being used by Realtek to gather data about customers. Comes installed on all computers with Realtek audio.

Just a suggestion, but anything from yahoo or AOL, anything that says "hook" in the listing, anything with no name and no file, messengers, and third party BHOs and toolbars are nothing more than parasites that bog down your computer. Getting rid of them will make your system much faster

they just slow your system down. It's up to you if you want to get rid of them or not

also try running ccleaner to get rid of all your cookies and temporary internet files. A lot of persistent popups are caused by something as simple as a bad cookie

start by downloading ccleaner, which will clear all your temporary files, cookies and so on: [SIZE=-1]www.ccleaner.com/download/. Make sure to check the option to clear cookies.

Do a search for [/SIZE]ALCXMNTR.exe then delete the file. If it won't let you delete it, open task manager and find it in the processes tab, right click on it and select "end process tree". then delete the file and restart.

you can get rid of most of the rest of what's listed, if you choose, by uninstalling it from the add/remove programs option in your control panel and/or deleting the files and through hijackthis

There is absolutely no reason!

I'm sure you guys got your suspicions on that file from analizers... This is why I don't trust those analizers. ALCXMNTR.exe is needed for Realtech audio.

ALCXMNTR.exe is used by Realtek to gather info from your system in order to distribute it for marketing purposes. It is not an essential process. Deleting it will not adversely affect sound performance.

Well whatever you do, I would have warned you. I suggest you ask for professional help, either to Buzz or to John McKenna (both members here) and wait for a reply.

Taking off such files CAN result in system failure. File removal cannot be taken lightly ( I think we say that in english, anyway you get my expression).
