stalker

Well I've played it for a few hours today and I must say I am dissapointed. The graphics are amazing but the open-ended gamplay left me bored. So far you just get assigned jobs to do and follow your radar everywhere until the job is done. Not a lot of fun.

Games are becoming more and more reliant on open environments, and following a stupid GPS around.

Even the new test drive game has abandoned tracks for a city environment and a GPS.

I'll be pleased when gaming gets back to basics.

It's a good game in my opinion. I like the fact that it's open ended, plus when you've done everything you can attack different military outposts and such in order to get a challenge.

I can't play it in Vista, it always crashes. I put it in compatibility for XP and run as admin, still crashes. WTF

It's good but it suffers from Oblivion-after-a-certain-point-nothing-can-kill-you syndrome ;) Nothing like popping dudes out a zillion miles away with the gauss rifle... if not then the Vintor BC (accuracy not the same but a very predicatble bullet drop.

Although it never does get old when you get the high powered sniper rifles and start sending Freedom troops literally flying off their towers lol.

i would like to ask the people with high end rig... atleast with gpu of x800up/6800up/7800up/x1800up on high to max settings to get the full or atleast near its potential visuals....

......tell me how is the graphic? as i scan some screenshots it doesnt impress me much about the graphics... but it might be those screenshots have taken in in low spec rig.

hehe one thing I've noticed unlike Oblivion is that Stalker performance will drop drastically if you do soemthing (that's very doable in the game). Here's a sample (but can be applied anywhere really)
  • Goto army warehouses, the Freedom Base
  • Bust out your sniper rifle (or whatever yer preference really)
  • Kill everyone. Kill all their respawns. And all their respawns too.
  • Now there's like 100+ bodies lying around .... drag them all into one big mass grave (you can kill+drag as you too if youd rather).
  • You'll notice when you're pile gets to about 40 bodies it lags out heehee (that and ragdolling can be fun when some of the bodies collion-glitch out and it looks like one of the bodies is havign a spasm heeeeheee)
