Starcraft 2 help?

Hey all, i bought starcraft 2 the other day and have a problem. I suck at scouting. I havent a clue where the enemy bases are. I presumes theyd be directly opposite but no the game has to throw a spanner in the works. Any way this is contributing massively to me losing as i havent got a clue what my opponent is doing. Iv lost my first 4 placement matches due to not having a clue where the enemy is placed. And obviously not being able to react to the builds and expansions.
 
Try and catch me online one of these days and I'll help you out. I tried adding you but didn't get a response from you yet. I was online for most of Sunday. I would imagine that if you don't know the game you'll lose all 5 placement matches, and then lose your first few ladder games before the system figures out where to put you.

Each map has different spawn locations. They either have 2, 3, or 4 spawn locations, so you only need to look at those locations.

If you chose to play terran than go on youtube, and learn how to do a "3 rax". That is an easy build that works in all 3 matchups that will teach you the basics, and win you a lot of games at your level.

Just wondering, where in the world are you? As iv been on all day so wondering if its a time zone difference :P

Iv got a little better ( i think) since first posting this, I won one of my placement matches and won 5 ladder matches. (Lost a lot more but its a start) My main problem after watching some replays seems to be my mid-late game, im getting my expo's up, amassing units then being wiped out in one strike from the other player, this leaves all my bases undefended. That said, against terran and zerg harrasing does not work, and every match iv played theres been no skirmishes, its just been all ins from them too :P.


Basically what i could do with is pointers on build orders and timings. And advice on good counters for those pesky little zerg things (not sure of the names, one of the first units they can get, sort of look like cock roaches).

Didn't realize you were all the way in Manchester. I'm in Toronto, Canada. So I'm Eastern Standard Time. Not sure what time that works out to for you.

The hard counter to roaches is marauders, but marauders don't do very well against other zerg early game units. Regardless, marauders destroy roaches 1v1, and cost for cost, especially if you have stim.

The most important things right now are,

Don't get Supply Blocked,
Produce out of all production buildings non-stop
Keep your money low

Not in any specific order. If you youtube search Day9 Newbie Tuesdays you'll get a lot of really usefull videos with in-depth analysis of how to get better and stuff.

Look for ones that have anything to do with mechanics, or the basics. Just being able to do those 3 basic things reasonally well on 2 bases will get you into gold. I just realized that were playing on different servers, so we can't play together unless I figure out how to unlock my game to let me play on EU servers.

Also, i only play protoss :P There too cool not to and the other races just dont do it for me.

And about the servers thats a bummer, does that mean you can only add people in your own region too?

If you play toss, then learn how to 4gate, or 3gate expand. I won't be able to give you much guidance besides that. I believe you cant add people that aren't in your region. I'm not sure though.

Colosus are really really good when they have Zealot stalker support.
