Anyone think steam has been downloading games very slow lately?

Usualy when i d/l BC2 it take around 20 mins....took nearly 2 hours the other night....then i purchased GTA:EFLC last night, been downloading for 1 hour last night....resumed it about half hour ago and its only 35% done

I have a 20Mb unlimited internet connection from virgin media,Its not my connection.

I just bought L4D2 and it's downloading at maximum speed, but then again I only have a 2Mb connection. I'm happy I got the game for 10€ but it'll take me 7-10 hours to download it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the servers are under quite a bit of stress now because of the summer sale.

I imagine that the summer sale has hammered the steam servers.
When I was downloading the AA3 patch it averaged less than 100 kb/s:eek:.
But then earlier today I somehow got up to 600 kb/s, which in Australia is super weird.

Man i cant believe this,While im waiting for GTA:EFLC to download i thought i would play some BC2 single player and it will be carry on downloading,...when i finished i exited BC2 and my download of GTA:EFLC then resumed....a whole hour of my playing on BC2 singleplayer it had not downloaded a damn thing....why did it pause?

ffs lol

There's been a major CS:S update thats been wringing the servers resources, it'll be like that for a while...

Steam doesn't want you to play games and download at the same time, dunno why though :o.

Really?
Everytime I go to play a game steam stops my download, even a game where there is no online.

I'll try it with some other game and see if Steam continues downloading.

EDIT: Steam does pause your download. But you can ALT+TAB out of the game, resume the download and return to the game.

Alt-tab... hmm why didn't I think of that?
I think that steam has gone back to normal speeds as the big sale rush would have died down.
