sys idle process using high resources

My sys idle process makes my cpu stay around 40% for some reason, i dont think is cause of viruses or spyware....

sys specs

3700+
768mb ram
evga 7300gs

screens:

i think it might be some kinda of driver or hardware problem cause it does this right after i reinstall windows

any help is appreciated
 
If I am not mistaken, the System Idle Process is supposed to give the processor "something to do" when the computer is sitting idle. Although, you may want to research more on the problem if it's still running even when the computer is in full use.
 
click on the system idle process entrie, in task manager, and click end process, it wont end the process, i found that after you do that it lowers the CPU usage..
 
System Idle isn't using anything. The % usage is how much CPU power isn't being used.

how do i find out whats using it then, right now the overall cpu usage is at 70% when im doing nothing. and no other process seems to be taking resources.....
