System peculiarly freezing

Ok, so I have an Acer Aspire 7741g-3647. It has an i5 450m, ATI 5650 1gb video card, and 4gb DDR3. It's brand new. Had to replace a HP that I returned within one month. The HP had almost the same specs, but the display light failed, lol. ANYWAY, important part. I used Steam, and bought Team Fortress 2, with my new laptop, I've been playing it, but every couple minutes the game freezes for about 1 or 2 seconds, then continues. This happens over and over again. Regular gameplay is fine, no frame rate loss, but every few minutes, freeze, continue, repeat.

Wondering if it was the game, I tried WoW, same thing happened, wasn't even in an intense part. Connection? Someone told me I'm likely overheating. My laptop is on a laptop fan, that is raised and blowing a good deal of air. I used Speccy (by piriform) with the games running in the background and my temp was like 48*. Right now it's ~40*

Ideas? This is frustrating, I don't want to have to return this. BTW, I updated my graphics card, no idea what else to do.

It would help if you put down your o/s and if its 32 or 64 bit but im guessing your trying to run in on windows 7 it could be a few things m8 like your firewall is not set for steam or you have an antivirus or spyware program running in the background which will interfere, have you got all your steam/dx9c drivers upto date and losded the latest patches
suggest you look at steam support here https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289 or here https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9257-TUJL-7421

What may be slowing my game connection down, there are multiple settings for each type of defense, that I'm not familiar with. I haven't used it for very long. Was wondering if anybody else used Comodo and gamed, or if was pretty knowledgeable about it and would know if any settings or anything might be prohibiting me.
