Text-To-Speech and Voice Recognition Advances

I was wondering whether anyone knew what the best TTS packages or Voice Recognition packages out there at the moment are? The technology is moving so fast, and I'm convinced there have been advances since AT&T Natural Voices and Dragon Naturally Speaking. The telephone automated services companies have these days can be very impressive, anyone know the kind of companies other companies go to for their needs?

It's a topic I'm very interested in, so feel free to discuss the general area, just nobody mention Vista, I'll be most displeased...

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 is still going to be you best bet i'm afraid

I looked into this a while ago, as i want to build several voice activated apps. Could find any mics with high enough gain and coverage angle (but cheap enough cost) to cover the whole room
