The Orange Box

I was thinking of purchasing and downloading The Orange Box off Steam later tonight, since I am hosting a LAN in December, and one of the people asked if Team Fortress 2 will be hosted, and I said sure. So, I have some questions.

How much different is TF2 from CSS, control wise, like W,S,A,D to move, mouse to shoot.

Whats the Half Life stuff, thats with this package. Is it like the Half Life 2 that came with CSS?

And is Portal fun?

I assume TF2 has a LAN option, what about a server option.

Or should I just download TF2 separately.

Thanks.

I just DL'ed TF2 instead of buying the Orange Box, I have CS:S and HL2, I don't like HL2 all that much... It does have the dedicated server option in Steam.. I don't know about anything close to Mani Mod for TF2 though....

TF2 is juts like css control wise

Orange Box comes with Half-Life 2(the same one that came with CSS yes)and the next two sequels known as episodes 1 and 2, they are both the same design as Half-Life 2 just further into the story.

Portal is a blast, it takes quick thinking and puzzle solving ability and the dimension it adds with portals is just great fun. Plus the end will have you laughing.

Yeah, if anyone wants to get the orange box but already has HL2 EP. 1 and 2, I'll take the HL off your hands free of charge =). PM me.

Okay, is TF2 not a free download?

I feel like a noob for asking but i coulda sworn it was a free HL2 mod...or do you have to buy it in orange box...

Tux you have HL dont you, came with CSS.
Im getting confused with all these versions and stuff.

Team fortress 2 is successor to the original team fortress, which started out as a free mod (i think). Valve began selling team fortress, so I think that means the purchased the IP.. I think there was actually a TF mod for HL2, it was merely meant to tide one over till TF2 was released.

The HL that came with CSS is the multiplayer... I don't really enjoy it. I want the scary crap your pants play at night in the dark single player stuff.

the orange box is the best 50 dollars ive ever spent on video games. HL2 is consistently awesome from start to finish, portal is genius... and TF2 my god. probably the best mutliplayer game ive ever played
