Transfering Components Between Cases

I currently have an XPS 400 and recently the motherboard went bad on me and gave me this "Keyboard Error." After diagnosing the problem, I have narrowed it down to the mother board. So I my going to have to replace it, being that I love the components I have in the computer currently:

PD(3.2 GHZ)
4 gbs of Crosshair ram
2 500GB hardrives
TV tuner
Nvidia 8600

Would this transfer be relatively simple, being that I have to get a new motherboard and PSU? Find a case that I like and swap over the parts.
 
Yes it should be, if you're buying an ATX motherboard just make sure to get an ATX case. You most likely would need a new power supply though, because the one that Dell's come with are usually proprietary to their motherboards.
 
should be ok if your using a different case, you sill need to buy a new heat sync for your cpu as dells are proprietary.

Are you sure yours is broken? Does it still boot? Have you tried another keyboard? Have you tried your keyboard on another PC? And if it is still broken is it still under warentee?
 
When I was trouble Shooting the problem, I first tried a different Keyboard and mouse, didnt work, I plugged both into my laptop and they were working just fine. So I thought that it may just be a boot problem, so I loaded a new HD into it and got the same problem. I cannot boot in safe mode or anything. So I pulled the CMOS battery out to let the Motherboard reset and now the computer wont power on at all. Im fairly certain it is the motherboard. It is very frustrating.
 
Its not the processor that is at fault its the holes on the dell board vs your typical motherboard.

This is how Dell locks you into their "Overpriced Upgrade" plans for future investments.
