transfering files between computers?

i just build my first computer and i need to transfer files from my laptop to the new computer....how could i go about doing this? i dont have high speed at home(where i'm building it) but i have a wireless router and network card on the laptop, could i network them this way without internet connections? like the wirelss would be picked up and a cable would be coming from the router to the new computer? dumb idea but i just dont want the hassle of burning cd-rw and transfer everything that way...i have alot of music and crap to transfer...ike 30g of stuff

well if you have a wireless router and a wireless card in your laptop, then you could put a wireless card in your computer and transfer them over the home network like that.

If your router has ethernet ports you can run a wire from it to your new computer to network them and transfer it like that.
