trying to install AVG

I'm trying to install AVG, but when I open the exe file, it goes to 2003 norton AV installation instead. I already "uninstalled" norton, but obviously there are still components in my PC. what the heck do I do???

I uninstalled norton on someones computer today and installed AVG without a hitch.
Did you uninstall it from ADD/REMOVE programs in your control panel?

Oh ya, I noticed that the norton installation setup file or program to install norton is still in my drive...do I just toss that in the garbage? I think the answer is no, but maybe this is what is causing the problem.
