Upgrade or not?

Hey guys, new to the forum.. Been a pc gamer for about a year now but haven't felt the need to upgrade my computer, judging by my specs what should I upgrade to get a decent performance? Such as running skyrim on high with little to no sweat :P my price range is about.. £500-600, could go over but preferably not specs are as follows:

Intel quad core 2.8 ghz
4gb ram
Radeon HD 5450 (512 mb)

Thanks in advance :)

ok, we nee more info. exactly which CPU do you have? Also what motherboard and PSU do you have?

our best upgrade right now is to get a better GPU, something like a HD6870 o higher, or GTX560ti or higher.

Sorry, was going from memory since i was on my phone.. straight from dxdiag:

Processor: Intel core 2 quad CPU Q8300 2.50GHz

Memory: 4096mb

Display: ATI Radeon HD5450 (512mb)

sorry, forgot about psu.. im pretty sure its stock for my case so 250w i think :) Tower model is an acer aspire m3800

..keep in mind im not 100% clear on the inner workings :P what would my options be? Surely i should upgrade the PSU first if i want to get a new graphics card?

You'll need a new motherboard and graphics card. Then your PC will get a giant boost!

No to this. Your motherboard is fine. What you'll need is new power supply and a new graphics card. You have a good price range, so you should be able to get some good parts. Do you have a specific site you'd like to order off? I'm not too familiar with European sites.

those look good to me. A good match to your CPU. I would mention though that he linked a GTX560ti, which is a bit better than a strait 560.

i noticed that :) Should come together quite nicely.. think my current case will be sufficient?

EDIT: and would anything else need to be upgraded or could i run things in ultra/high easily? :)

Just a little update, thought itd be pretty dumb creatinga new thread, was thinking about buying 2 4gb Ripjaws X Series DDR3, my current ram is only 4gb would it be worth buying or just leaving it at 4gb? thanks! :)

It just depends on your needs. Do you ever find yourself lacking RAM? There is a sidebar app on vista and 7 that will tell you a % of your RAM being used, that might help. If you are doing good with 4, then I don't see a need for an upgrade, but an upgrade won't hurt.

Well, i also produce music on my computer and find it can strain a little.. i wouldnt say it was a necessity but it just £35 for double the RAM :)

actually, you can install the 8GB kit and keep the 4GB kit in too if you have enough dimm slots. Just be sure to install the 4GB sticks in the primary DIMM (like 1 & 3) and the smaller dimms in the second channel.

Awesome, even better :) Is it worth getting then? I know that most high graphics games coming out recently have recommended ram of 4gb so..? :P
