My fiancee bought a Vaio this year, a little $900 unit. Its ok for typing and internet. But she got on my laptop (mine has all the bells and whistles) and learned that she likes to play games!
She loves fallout 3, and wanted to put it on her computer. There is NO way that game would run smoothly (maybe max at 2fpMINUTE!). She cant seem to understand why she cant get games to play smoothly. She tried one of the Sims games and it was horrendous! It was so slow and lagging.
So she wants on my laptop all the time, I said absolutely not. I need mine to actually do things. I would buy a console, but dont have the $400 to buy one. (I'd love a PS3 slim)
Anyone have advice on what to do here? I seriously doubt that her computer can be upgraded. If it could be upgraded, I'm guessing that it would probably cost as much as a console.
She has a decent processor, and 3GB ram, but only a crummy built-on GPU that cant keep up with calculator (I'm exaggerating obliviously). I think its a nVIDIA 8400M, its a junk GPU except for FireFox and Word.
So what do you think? And please, serious suggestions only.
