I am in dire need of a new video card, the integrated graphics on my stupid hp wont cut it. unfortunately, my computer only came with pci slots even though its from 2005 -_-...
so anyhow, i have narrowed down my search to two cards...the problem is that i cannot tell which is better. some specs are better on one than the other and vice versa.

if someone can help me out it would be great.

check to see ifits "PCI-E/PCI-EXPRESS" some people just disregaurd the extra E and assume it means nothing

you will not see any difference between 128MB video ram and 256MB, because those two cards are too slow, and they will not take the advantage of 256MB.

i would go with 6200 for four reasons :
1- 6200 has higher cock speed than fx5500.
2- 6200 support shader model 3.0
3- geforce fx series performs very slow on directx9 games
4- geforce 6200 is cheaper than fx5500

maybe some dx9 games works fine with fx5500, but these games will run better with 6200.
Also, don't forget that most directx9 games run on directx8 mode by default when u play with FX series.

Anyway, i would go with 6200, because it has higher clock speed, newer technology and it is much cheaper.

the only thing that fx5500 is better than 6200 is that it has 128 bit memory interface, but this doesn't mean that it performs better than 6200.
For example, 6800GS has 256 bit memory interface, while 7600GT has 128 bit memory interface, but 7600GT performs better than 6800GS.

lol what games are you talking about? cause i once had a fx 5500 and it was HORRIBLE.

I had FX5500 and it was pretty good with AMD 64 3000+ @ 2.2GHz. In Counter Strike Source 1024x768 other settings on medium or high I used to get like 70 of fps... but I had AGP FX5500 so I dont know how PCI card will perform.. Maybe that 6200 is better. It´s ramdac is 400MHz but fx5500 has only 350MHz of ramdac..
