Wake on lan (BUT WITH NO ROUTER?)

Hi!

I have read lots of information and advices for how to wake up a remote computers with WOL. But it all says that you have to have a router which is connected to the (internet) modem.

And my problem is...I have no router because I have only one computer at home. It isnt any network. So does it mean I cant turn on this remotly?

its all in the name WOL (wake on lan) LAN is for Local Area Network, so you might want to try looking up something a little different. I.E. WOM(wake on modem).

I have already an external modem which i can turn on the computer remotely by a phone call. But its very annoying since people are calling home to me every hour.

Therefore I want the WOL to work. And I know it works for persons with a router at home to support internet connection to two or more computers.

And since I havent a router i just want to know if all this can work without a such thing.

Hope someone knows...
