What are some popular games,WOW?

Im looking into getting a new pc and would like to take up gaming again. I use to game years ago like when quake, unreal, battlefield 1942 was popular, lol maybe like 10yrs ago. Since then I just been playing games online on the xbox.

I think I would like to try something like world of warcraft "I dont even know if its still popular? Im downloading the free trial now,but my pc is so old and whipped I doubt it will run. But was just wondering if you would recommend WoW,or some similar game like it?

I been out the pc games so long I have no idea what is out there,so please recommend some must have pc game's, thanks!

starcraft 1, brood wars (for your older pc) or starcraft 2 if your pc can handle it are all great games. WoW is still very popular and with the expansion pack thats due to come out i would presume its a good time to get into it as its going to get very active i would imagine. (more so than it is now) WHile iv never played it lotr online is very highly rated and is f2p.

Aastii has made an ftp section on here with some cracking games. Maybe check that out.

For payed games, steam should be your first port of call. Valve titles are very popular on the mp side of things and not very difficult to run.

What are your system specs so we can gauge what you can and cant play.

Right now my pc wont run nothing, just tried Wow free trial and it wont activate 3d acceleration "or somthing like that" lol,my pc is a 10yr or maybe even older dell dimension 4550.

But this thing is finally giving out,its slower then slow and the fan's are screeching,so I need a new pc regardless and the xbox games have been boring me so I figure I might as well get a pc that will run games and see what the pc game world has to offer.

I just was unsure on what game's are a must have and how much of a gaming pc I would need for these demanding game's. I just thought of WoW since it's always being advertised,on commmercial and tv shows etc,I never played anything like it,so figure I'd give it a shot. If Chuck Norris endorses it,It has to be good! :)

Is Age Of Conan similar to WoW? I know nothing of this game, only heard of it because it was on a episode of Big Bang Theory.

Im not sure, i would presume its an MMO but i think the similaritys would end there. Runescape may play on your pc, you could try that.

Id think that starcraft 1 and brood war should definately play. They are worth checking out. You can either buy retail or buy download from blizzard. i was late to the sc1 party only getting it yesterday but its very good for a game so old :p And multiplayer is a blast.

Star wars jedi academy is awesome and if your into single player rpg games you cant beat knights of the old republic. Both are relatively cheap on steam.

This is a good browser based fps, http://www.nplay.com/BeGone/

Other than that until you have a new pc there isnt really much out there im afraid.

As for what sort of pc you need for todays games, depends what setting you want to play them at, low to medium at 1080 £400 (or w.e you currency is) for the base unit minimum, High your probably looking around £6-700. Maxed out even more. It depends what you want out of it. The more money you put in the more youll get out. (These general prices are based on you building it yourself - If you looking for prebuilt youll end up paying through the nose for a good gaming system. That said, second hand sites, ebay and gumtree/craiglist in the Us have some cracking deals usually)

Skyrim, if you love Fantasy, Deus Ex: Revolution or perhaps StarCraft II

Warhammer 40K, OH S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Either Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, or Pipryat), Battlefield 3, theres a HUUUGE library of games, it all varies on what you like.

These games are, of course, if you are getting a good computer.

If you are getting a new PC and you want something WoW-like, play Star Wars: The Old Republic. WoW is extremely washed up now. Yeah, millions still play it, but it's nothing like an MMO should be anymore.

If you want an awesome Free-to-Play, try League of Legends.
