I have a
Intel(r) pentium(r) 4 cpu 2.80ghz 2(cpus)
1534mb RAM
radeon x300se 128mb hyper memory
I dont know if it matters but I have a 200gb hard drive and an extra 500gb external hard drive.
What do I need to improve my computers game performance which is hopefully not too expensive.

What power supply do you have, and what sized case?

What motherboard are you using?

If you aren't sure on the PSU, take the side off your case and have a look. For size of case, I just need to know whether it is some form of ATX form factor.

And if you aren't sure what mobo you are running, CPUz will tell you:

ftp://ftp.cpuid.com/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.57-setup-en.exe

the motherboard is a
dell inc.
0j8885
intel i 945p/pl/g/gz
intel 82801 gb (ich7/r)
smsc

And where am I looking when I take the side of the case off for the psu?

When you say the size of case do you mean the case that the computer is housed in. If that is so then it is an old dell dimension 5100 case. I am sorry for all the questions I am decent when it comes to writing hard drives and doing certain things on a computer but when the case comes apart I get lost.

You will need a new PSU:

would be your best bet, or for a bit cheaper, but not as good:

Then you will need a new CPU, because a P4 won't be running Starcraft, but so far as I can tell, your motherboard doesn't support more than P4, so you will need a new motherboard too, which, unless you go with an outdated socket 775 board or AM2+, you will also need some DDR3 memory. You will also need a new graphics card, and because of the length of most graphics cards, you would probably need a new case too

You will effectively need a full new system at the end of it all. It is what happens when you go with a prebuilt system, and when you go so long without upgrading .There are certain things you could have salvaged had it been custom built, such as the case and power supply, but as it is, due to sizes and quality, you can use the hard drive and DVD drive, and that is about it without a full rebuild

My case is a fairly old one meaning it is like an old school cell phone because it is huge the measuments on it are 17 1/2- 7 1/1- 16 tall. Looking at the inside of it there is a lot of room inside it to fit 4 ddrs, 2 hard drives, and 2 graphics cards with the cooling system it already has inside it and the other components I need. Is there anyplace that I can go to get a good deal on mother boards and cpus?
